The soft coated wheaten is a very smart dog. They do not bark a lot, are easy to train & are very loving. They enjoy being with people & are excellent dogs for children. They do not shed hair, so they are a good choice for people with allergies. Your wheatie will need regular grooming to keep his hair nice.

When the puppies are born, they are black in color. As they mature, they lighten to the color of ripening wheat.
